My Life in Search of Africa – John Henrik Clarke
In My Life in Search of Africa, John Henrik Clarke, one of the foremost scholars on Africa, fought to legitimise African history for more than 60 years. This book finally uncovers the tumultuous life of this great figure.
Through a series of autobiographical essays, Clarke looks back on his lifelong struggle to restore African history to its proper place in the context of world history.
This is a compilation of a lecture series that Dr. Clarke gave at the Africana Studies and Research Center’s 20th Anniversary. He was an incredibly well versed historian with a vast knowledge of the African Diaspora, the accounting of history, developments throughout the world and how they rooted back to or involved Africa. This book made me feel as if I were right back in Africana listening to him lecture.
