Some Kind of Black is a Coming of age story of a black man in London. Nigerian Dele struggles without the support of his best friend, his sister Dapo, who suffers from sickle cell anaemia.
The story is set in London about a young Nigerian student studying at Oxford and how he copes with his friends, both white and black, his family, racism and how these factor pull on his life.
A beautifully written book that is set in London is a compelling account of black life in cosmopolitan London. The author saw London from the angle of an underprivileged African. The descriptive style of writing made it easy for the reader to relate to the story. This is the right book for those who have the desire to know about African life in the Diaspora.
